How do I fix a corrupt pst file in Vista Outlook 2007?

I am getting signon screens with every timed download. The error says to
use the scanpst utility. It is not available from my view.

Go to C Drive> Program Files> Microsoft Office> Office 2007. After doin
this you will see the PST files. Right click on it and go to th
Properties and then select the Compatibility tab. Click on it to clea
down all the Compatibility Mode Check Box. After doing so, click o
Apply and then press OK. Restart the computer and your problem is sorte
out.

If still the problem persists, then your PST file is damaged. Here's

Go to C Drive> Program Files> Microsoft Office> Office 2007. After doing
this you will see the PST files.

Absolutely WRONG. The pst files do NOT reside in the Program Files folder.
They are in /User/{account name}/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/ folder.

Right click on it and go to the
Properties and then select the Compatibility tab. Click on it to clear
down all the Compatibility Mode Check Box. After doing so, click on
Apply and then press OK. Restart the computer and your problem is sorted
out.

That "procedure" will have NO EFFECT whatsoever on a corrupted pst file. Why
on earth would you think that it does?

If still the problem persists, then your PST file is damaged. Here's a
link to a software site: http://www.outlookpstrepair.co.uk. Try using
this software to get your problem sorted out.

And there's a built-in tool in Office that is specifically designed to
repair damaged pst files - it's called scanpst.exe.

All in all a load of rubbish.

Yes SCANPST.EXE is inbuilt application provided by Microsoft with all MS Outlook editions. If you are using MS Outlook 2007 then the path of this tool is -C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\SCANPST.EXE
But this tool is able to repair basic level corruption only for complete Outlook recovery you can use PCVITA Recover Outlook as alternative solution.
